This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies that atef.dev (atef.dev), operated by Ionite Ltd (company no. 13839693), 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom, uses.
What we use
| Cookie | Category | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| atef.dev session (better-auth) | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in and secures your session. The app cannot function without it. |
| PostHog analytics | Analytics | Lets us understand which pages and features are used, records a replay of the session, and captures diagnostics when something errors. Set by PostHog (EU region). No analytics cookie is set unless you accept analytics — if you decline, or simply do not answer, nothing is stored on your device. |
Managing cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are required to keep you signed in and cannot be turned off without breaking the Service. You can control or clear cookies through your browser settings; blocking the analytics cookie will not affect core functionality.

Analytics on this site, and what signing in does not do
PostHog is the only non-essential thing here, and it is off until you say otherwise. Before you answer, the site counts which page was opened with no cookie, no stored id and nothing kept on your device. Saying yes adds which articles get finished, which tools get used, a replay of your visit, error and speed diagnostics, and a rough country from your IP. Saying no stops all of it, including the count.
Signing in is not an answer to that question. Signing in tells me an email address is yours. It says nothing about whether you want your visit recorded, so it is not treated as permission and nothing is switched on by it. If you are signed in and have not decided, the banner stops interrupting you - there is nothing to ask permission for while the answer is still no - and the decision stays here, in the footer of every page, and in your account menu. Sign out and the banner comes back.
You are never identified to PostHog unless you have allowed analytics. When you have, events are tied to your family account id so that reading the same article on your phone and your laptop is one person rather than two.
